Celebrating His Majesty King Bhumibhol’s 7 th cycle 84 th birthday anniversary
|

On 5 th December 2011, the Royal Thai Embassy, Copenhagen in cooperation with the Royal Thai Consulate in Hvide Sande, the Royal Thai Consulate in Copenhagen, and members of Team Thailand held a reception to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibhol’s 7 th cycle 84 th Birthday Anniversary at Borsen (the old Stock Exchange of Copenhagen). The said reception was held from 15.30-18.30 hrs. There were approximately 400 guests attended this auspicious event, namely H.E. Mr. Ove Ullerup, Lord Chamberlain, a representative from the Royal Danish Court, H.E. Mr. Klaus Gruber, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic communities, prominent figures from Danish business and political sectors as well as members of the Thai community in Denmark. Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Thirakul Niyom, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and H.E. Ms. Vimon Kidchob, Director-General of the International Economics Department, whom are scheduled to attend official meetings in Europe, were also presented at the said reception. |

During this auspicious occasion, H.E. Mr. Ove Ullerup, Lord Chamberlain, delivered a speech and toasted to His Majesty the King of Thailand. In return, H.E. Mr. Piyawat Niyomrerks, the Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark delivered a speech and toasted in honour of H.M. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. H.E. the ambassador of Thailand also took this opportunity to give a briefing on the current flood situation in Thailand as well as clarifying the government’s measure to relief the situation and regain the foreign investors’ confidence. |

The reception also featured an exhibition on H.M. the King of Thailand’s royal initiative projects, jazz performance by Uptown Jazz Band, led by Lieutenant Colonel Christian Eugene Olsen, Master of Ceremony and Chamberlain of the Royal Danish Court and Thai cultural dance performances by Thai students from “Ban Ram Thai Dontree Thai” led by Professor Sriwiang Jiewpattanakul. At the end, H.E. the ambassador of Thailand invited all the guests to join the candlelight ceremony in honour of His Majesty the King of Thailand.

The reception was a tremendous success. It was also the first time that the Royal Thai Embassy ever hold a reception at Borsen, which is considered to be one of the oldest and historical sites in Denmark.
